Dean of Academic Affairs

Title: Dean of Academic Affairs
Locations: Chicago, IL


Primary Responsibilities:

The Dean of Academic Affairs (DOAA) is a member of Academics Management team and works closely with University and corporate resources to ensure academic integrity, growth, development, retention, and the opportunity for success of all students. The DOAA provides guidance and support to the University learning experience and curriculum-related educational services.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

· Assist Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in strategic planning, teaching and learning issues;
· Ensures the quality of the online delivery of instruction and curriculum development and revision processes;
· Assists the University Deans as required;
· Participates actively in all relevant University committees, as assigned;
· Participates actively in the UNIVERSITY student retention program;
· Participates in the assessment of student learning through established processes;
· Provides recommendations to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the development, modification and implementation of automated Virtual Campus and CampusVue functionality and navigation;
· Contributes suggestions for instructional improvement to faculty training and development;
· Supervise all Program Chairs;
· Assist Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs with the management and development of Academics staff in the implementation of plans and continuous improvement initiatives;
· Works collaboratively with other Directors and Managers to ensure Academic integrity and quality;
· Serves as the Secretary of the Online Academic Committee;
· Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Education
Doctoral degree required.

Knowledge
· Knowledge of curriculum development and course delivery process,
· Knowledge of educational measurements and assessment practices, applicable federal and state regulations and accrediting agency standards and requirements,
· Knowledge of online delivery methods and effective communication in both traditional and online educational forums,
· Understanding of and appreciation for the for-profit education system.

Experience:
· Minimum 1 year college/university online teaching experience,
· Minimum 2 year college/university academic management experience,
· Minimum 2 year industry experience in a program-related field,
· Solid background in managing and evaluating processes, programs and personnel,
· Strong evidence of professional development activity.
